What is Tea Tree Oil?

Tea Tree Oil is an aromatic oil with a fragrance evocative of nutmeg and is steam-distilled from the Melaleuca Alternifolia leaves. Is a native Australian plant, country wich now is the major source of tea tree oil.

Tea tree products are referred sometimes to as "melaleuca oil" and the pure oil is colorless to pale yellow with a very strong smell. More than 300 varieties exist, but only one is prized for its world-renowned oil.

 

Organic tea tree oil has been used as a natural antiseptic for over 200 years (that we know of) in Australia and is currently in use worldwide. The oil has a wide range of activity against fungi, gram negative and gram positive bacteria and is considered a very powerful antiseptic and an immuno-stimulant.
